About This Site

Family Cooking List publishes hands-on reviews, side-by-side comparisons and step-by-step guides for the tools that make cooking for a big family faster and less messy: large air fryers, electric pressure cookers, vegetable choppers, kitchen knife sets and sheet pans. Every pick is judged on one question: does it hold up when you are feeding six people on a school night?

Kitchen Safety

Electric pressure cookers build real pressure and steam. Never force the lid open, keep the steam release valve pointed away from faces and cabinets, never fill past the max line, and keep small children well back when releasing pressure.

Air fryers and ovens run hot on the outside as well as the inside. Give an air fryer several inches of clearance from walls and cabinets, never set it on the stovetop, keep cords out of reach of kids, and use oven mitts on baskets and sheet pans straight from the heat.

Knives and chopper blades are extremely sharp. Store knives in their block, wash blades by hand with the edge facing away from you, never reach blind into a sink with a blade in it, and keep chopper grids and blades out of reach of children.

Follow the manufacturer's instructions for every appliance, check recalls before buying, and cook meats to safe internal temperatures with a food thermometer. This site offers general information, not professional food safety advice.
